Hard race and definitely my legs still felt the results of racing Amish country Roubaix the day before.
Break of 5 guys got away on the second time up the hill. I was in the chase group however only three of us would work as the other people either had teammates in the break or just didn't want to work. Fortunately Blair Caught our group which added a friendly face to the chase. At that point it seemed as if Blair and I were the only ones working. Eventually Blair controlled the pace so I could get off the front.. I was eventually joined by two other people from the group (one being speedy Dan from Olympus). Alas by the end of lap 3 I started to bonk and cramp and was dropped on the climb. Still managed to hang on for 7 th ( one of the guys in the break bonked worst than me).

I knew it was windy when I leaned my front wheel against the car and it started to blow away! There were two guys off the front within the first 5 miles, one UC guy and I don't recall the other... we thought they would come back to us, but they stayed away. The UC teammates did a good job of slowing down the field while those guys hammered!.. Credit to them for smart tactics and for handling that wind. I got dropped (twice) on the big descent and had to solo to catch up, leaving my legs shot for the sprint.

Hard windy race with lots of climbing and head winds.

Nice race course with brutal wind and some mechanical issues but managed to stay in the race and pull with 3 of us chasing the lead group. We lost the lead group after failing to close the small gap on the last climb and failed to catch back on as they never left our sight... I hate when that happens but overall felt really great to race with the warm weather

Great course, tons of wind. I had no zip in the legs and got dropped early. Spent the last 2 laps in TT mode.

2nd Road Race ended with a DNF due to my chain dropping and twisting a link. I was in 3rd after the 1st big hill, feeling great, then dropped my chain. Had to stop and fiddle with it, while the entire field passed by. Mostly solely hammerfest to catch up some positions, and caught and passed about 10-12 riders. Then after the 1st big hill on lap 2, I dropped my chain again and my day racing was done. :(

Back from Connecticut Saturday night (4 days off the bike) after working in a 5k run/race that morning, caught a nasty cold and gunky lungs on the trip, dragged myself to the race to get in a finish, picked my way through the back and tubey flatted 6 miles from the finish. Guess what I'll be leaning this week. Tired, sick, windy and wouldn't have it any other way. Ridin' baby,
